Bugs and especially security holes get fixed almost immediately though the world-wide Community, which leads to higher quality software.

No commercially orientated company could afford the equivalent amount of resources to pay the same amount of developers. We take security very seriously.

Nobody owns exclusive rights on it. Therefore nobody can control the direction of development. The sustainability of the software is independent of the business activity of a certain company. If a group of developers decides to stop work, another one can take over.
